Samana’s fourth body of work ‘The Doors of Bardo’ is a multidisciplinary, immersive exploration into human consciousness and the significant mysticism of our ancient past. After undertaking an extensive research trip across a plethora of Britains pre-historic sites, Franklin and Rebecca conducted artistic research on the sonic archaeology, anthropology of consciousness and exploration of human biophysical and mental reactions at these sites, paying specific attention to dreams encountered when sleeping close to or directly under these sites and the effects encountered by the subconscious mind. The album weaves itself around the philosophy and notions of transcendental consciousness; paying onus on the delta brainwave, with the couple especially intrigued about its significance in trance states and the REM state of sleep.
